- An online resource and free printed brochure that describes resilience and some factors that affect how people deal with hardship. This resource focuses on developing and using a personal strategy for enhancing resilience.
- American Red Cross: Picking Up the Pieces after a Disaster
- Information regarding precautions to help keep you safe and speed your recovery after a disaster. Structural, major systems and utilities inspections, emotional recovery, vital document recovery, etc.
- American Red Cross: Safe and Well List
- If you have been affected by a disaster, this website provides a way for you to register yourself as “safe and well”, or search for loved ones who may have registered.
- Americans for the Arts (AFTA)
- AFTA has an extensive list of recovery resources for the arts community on its website. Click on the relief fund donation link at the top of the home page and then follow link to list of resources assisting the arts community.
- Arthouse (Texas) Emergency Assistance Grants
- In addition to helping build a more receptive audience for contemporary artists’ works, Arthouse provides a number of services to Texas artists, including an emergency grant program.
- Artist Relief Fund (Minnesota and Wisconsin) Emergency Grants
- The purpose of the Artist Relief Fund is to meet the emergency needs of artists in northeastern Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin who find themselves, due to an unexpected and career-threatening loss of income, in immediate need of financial assistance.
- CancerCare Assist
- CancerCare is a national nonprofit that provides free, professional support services to anyone affected by cancer. Services include limited grants to individuals for certain expenses related to treatment.

- CaringBridge is a nonprofit organization offering free personalized websites to people facing a serious medical condition, hospitalization, undergoing medical treatment and/or recovering from a significant accident, illness, injury or procedure.
- Coping with Disaster: Center for Mental Health Services (CMHS)
- CMHS is focused on providing resources to aid in the recovery process. Information and links to assist disaster affected people and those helping them.
- DisasterHelp.gov
- A service of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, this site is where citizens, emergency responders and government officials can find the latest disaster-related news, information, and resources.
- Emergency Grants from Modest Needs
- Modest Needs is a registered charity that works to stop the cycle of poverty before it starts for low-income workers struggling to afford emergency expenses. The organization also provides an online database of other recovery resources.
- FEMA: Frequently Asked Disaster Assistance Questions
- The Federal Emergency Management Agency’s resources and links for those looking for assistance of any kind after a disaster.
- Gottlieb Foundation
- The Adolph & Ester Gottlieb Foundation helps mature painters, sculptors and printmakers who have been working in their medium for at least ten years. The fund is competitive. Craft artists have received assistance in the past.
- Hurricane Katina: KatrinaArtists.com
- KatrinaArtists.com is a free space for Gulf Coast artists in the tri-state area affected by Hurricane Katrina to post information about their work, to let customers know where they are now and to sell their work online.
- Hurricane Katrina: Access to Care
- Access to Care (an American Red Cross initiative) makes access to mental health and substance abuse treatment available to those affected by Hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Wilma.

- Iowa Flooding 2008 - Iowa Arts Council Relief Grants
- The Iowa Arts Council is offering emergency Arts Relief Grants up to $500 in emergency assistance to Iowa Artists and Arts Organizations. Grant funds can be used for costs associated with cleanup and recovery from damage incurred by flooding, tornadoes, and related incidents. You can download the application from their website.

- Max’s Kansas City Project
- The mission of the max’s kansas city project is to provide emergency relief and resources for artists in need, and educate youth on the dangers of substance abuse and addiction. Emergency grants available to professional artist residing in New York State.
- Mayer Foundation
- The Foundation makes economic relief grants to individuals who are distressed or suffering as a result of poverty, low income or lack of financial resources. Proposals will be considered by the Foundation’s selection committee, which meets quarterly.

- Springboard for the Arts
- Springboard’s Emergency Relief Fund exists to help meet the emergency needs of artists in need of immediate monies to cover an expense due to a career-threatening event.
- Synergy Art Foundation (San Diego) Emergency Assistance Grants
- The mission of San Diego Emergency Artists’ Support League (a sub-foundation of Synergy Art Foundation) is to provide limited emergency financial assistance to San Diego County’s visual artists and visual arts professionals who are in desperate need because of a medical crisis, accident, fire or loss of personal and professional property.
- Tamarack Foundation Artisan Relief Program (TARP)
- TARP offers grants up to $5,000 for Tamarack-juried artisans who have been directly affected by significant disasters such as destructive floods, fires, etc., and life maintenance grants for necessities, such as emergency medical, food and housing needs.
- The Actors Fund Emergency and Disaster Recovery Resource Listing
- Search for emergency financial assistance or disaster relief resources nationwide or statewide using The Actors Fund online database. Most resources applicable to artists of all kinds.
- The Artists Fellowship - New York
- Financial aid is available through the Emergency Funding Grant Program to support professional fine artists and their families in the event of illness, distress, disability, or bereavement.
- The Pollock-Krasner Foundation
- The Pollock-Krasner Foundation provides support to artists working on paper, painters and sculptors. Grants are for one year and range from $1,000 to $30,000. Craft artists have received assistance in the past, however, the fund is very competitive.
- U.S. Department of Labor - Disaster Unemployment Assistance
- Disaster Unemployment Assistance provides financial assistance to individuals whose employment or self-employment has been lost or interrupted as a direct result of a major disaster.
- Visual AIDS
- Visual AIDS provides direct services to artists living with HIV/AIDS. The Visual AIDS Artist Material Grants are awarded to Visual AIDS active members, who are low income artists in need of financial assistance in obtaining materials for their artwork.
